This intensive workshop is designed to give coaches the tools to build a more competitive high school program. The concepts and methods elaborated in the on-court sessions will enable coaches to develop their own effective lesson plans and practice strategies. This highly interactive workshop (bring your tennis racquet and shoes!) will offer practical solutions to many of the challenges of coaching high school tennis coaches, including the following:

  • Teaching the fundamentals of stroke productions and efficient footwork
  • Explaining proper singles and doubles positioning to less experienced players
  • Creating drills to address specific technical, situational, and competitive problems
  • Using multiple practice courts more effectively

Workshop Presenters

Bob Bynum is certified as a United States Tennis Association (USTA) High Performance Coach, United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA) Elite Professional, and USPTA Competitive Player Development Specialist. Most recently, Bob served as the Boys Varsity Tennis Team at Newark Academy, in Livingston, N.J., where he was named the Star-Ledger Coach of the Year for 2017. His second time being so honored. During the 2017 season, the Minutemen were NJ state finalists.

Marvin Dent is certified as a USTA High Performance Coach, USPTA Elite Professional, and USPTA Tester. He has coached tennis at the high school, college, and professional levels, and helped hundreds of high school players earn scholarships to NCAA Division 1 schools. Currently the Head Coach of the USTA Eastern Intersectional 16 & Under Team, Marvin has been named Coach of the Year by both the USTA/Eastern Section and USPTA/Eastern Division.
